About us

The nursery began back in the 1980s when it was known as Hutton’s Nursery.  In 1999 my wife and I took the plunge and decided it was time for a fresh challenge in horticulture, coming from a background in landscaping and originally starting my working life at Hutton’s it was an opportunity not to be missed. 

We re-established the business and expanded to the four-acre site we have now.  This is split into two areas one for retailing our plants and one for growing our plants.  Per annum we grow somewhere in the region of 350,000  plants from bedding and basket plants to perennials, trees and shrubs to more exotic bamboos, grasses and ferns. 

We believe there are four  main advantages to Loxley Nurseries when compared with the average garden centres and DIY  outlets

1. Quality- you are buying from us the grower and ensuring a good quality hardy plant that has been grown in the same region you the customer lives in (not shipped in from a warmer climate and then shocked to death with our climate!)
   
   
2. Extensive range– we offer a much wider and diverse range of plants than the average nursery and garden centres, from the traditional to the new and the unusual. 
   
   
3. Value – as a grower we miss out the middleman passing the saving on to you our customers
   
   
4. Passions - We are passionate about plants and are always on the look out for new and exciting plants. We are constantly looking to improve what we produce. What we can’t produce ourselves we look to our select group of suppliers that also work to our high standards in plant production.

We at Loxley Nurseries try to keep things simple so our retail plant area is also kept simple and concise with banners and bed cards giving you clear information about many products and plants.
